Subject:Volunteer needed to help get kittens/puppies a new home....
Posted by:mintytrina.
Time:3:44 pm.
I got this email a few days ago and forgot to post it here. Anyway, if some of the NCer's didn't get it, here it is! I wish I could do it but my class schedule won't allow it this semester :-/

Hi y'all,

I am writing to see if you know of someone who might be available during the week to help the puppies and kittens at Metro. You see, Metro has the right to use the adoption room at PetSuppliesPlus. When they first started, they had a wonderful, loving, retired lady who did a "bang up" job of finding homes for the little ones. Since she left (moved, I think), they have had only sporadic help.

I think, as I am sure you do, this adoption room is an absolute GIFT. It can be an invaluable "tool" in finding homes for the puppies and kittens. Just think of the opportunity . . . . people already pre-disposed to loving animals . . . .and they are coming to see these "babies" !!!! Fill the spaces . . . . we MUST find a volunteer !!!!!

The hours of operation are: Monday thru Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. I am sure, however, if we could find someone for just 3 days a week, it would wonderful. There are NO large animals, only puppies and kittens.

Please, please ponder this and see if you can think of someone who has just retired, a young person with a light class load . . or someone who needs this as much as the puppies and kittens need them.

Permission to crosspost, widely. If you find someone who might be interested, ask them to call me at 758-3344.

Thank you, in advance, for any help you can offer. .

Well, I submitted all my paperwork today. Turned in my three rec letters, the admissions app, some personal writing I did for Dateline Alabama (with an explanatory note, heh). My interview is set for Friday morning at 9:00. Sooo, any of you who want to be on the panel and get me in, be my guest. If not, just wish me luck. :D

Subject:Encouragement (email from the NC list)
Posted by:mintytrina.
Time:3:33 pm.
I hope it is ok for me to post this here...I wouldn't see why not.
But it is an email from Dr. Hall (NC director) to encourage attendance to the discussion tomorrow before the potluck.

Please take time out of your day to join us for conversation and dinner
tomorrow evening. Many folks have worked hard to make this a dynamic
and close-knit learning community....It's good to come together and
celebrate that accomplishment.

At 5:00, we have a panel discussion of the play COPENHAGEN in 109 with
faculty from around campus, and 6:00, we have our usual potluck
extravaganza.

Semester is near end and it would be great to get caught up with
everyone. A lot of new students have joined the program of late and
its a good opportunity to welcome them and teach them how to survive
around here.

All best, Jim

Subject:POTLUCK this THURSDAY!
Posted by:mintytrina.
Time:10:52 am.
This Thursday, November 18th, 6pm, New College. Yep, tomorrow.

Come at 5pm for the early-bird special: A discussion of Michael
Frayn's historic play "Copenhagen," featuring faculty from across the
campus and the members of NEW 100.

As always, the more food brought to the potluck, the more we have to eat!
Hope to see you there! :)
